The D.C. Council is trying to ban natural gas as an energy source, forcing you to spend thousands more each year to heat and cool your home or business. Their policy - called “Net-Zero” - makes zero financial sense for Washingtonians worried about the rising cost of living and doing business in the city. Enough is enough. It’s time for the Council to listen to residents and businesses who want common sense energy and environmental policies.

IT’S NOT JUST NET-ZER0. THE DC COUNCIL HAS INCREASED FEES ON YOUR UTILITY BILLS BY 762% - 9 TIMES THE RATE OF INFLATION.
If you’ve ever examined your utility bills, you’ll find significant DC Council-imposed fees - called the Sustainable Energy Trust Fund (SETF) fees - that cost you more every month. The Council loves to talk about energy prices but usually fails to mention that their SETF fees are the biggest cost drivers on residents and businesses. Since 2009, when the Council first imposed these fees they have increased by 762% through multiple Council-enacted increases. These fees have increased 9 times the rate of inflation.
Annual energy bills for natural gas customers will rise by $1,022 if forced to convert to all-electric homes.
